Annex C

Technical accessibility requirements of desktop and laptop personal computers

 

The serial number, terms and the reference to the standards defined in Section 508 of the “Rehabilitation Act”, are indicated for each requirement.

 

Requirement No 1

Terms: The computer must be able to be connected to remote activation systems using standard cables.

Requirement No 2

Terms: Keys and buttons must be reachable and operable with minimum ability and with a maximum force of 2.3 Kg (equal to approximately 22.2 N).

Requirement No 3

Terms: Keys and buttons must be perceptible to the touch, without the need to activate them.

Requirement No 4

Terms: In the presence of key repetition functionality, the period of time for both the first repetition and subsequent repetitions must be configurable to at least 2 seconds.

Requirement No 5

Terms: The activation status of selected or jammed keys must be perceptible, in addition to visually, by touch or sound.

Requirement No 6

Terms: At least one communication port conforming to industrial standards must be present.

Requirement No 7

Terms: If a form of biometric identification is used, an alternative form of identification must be provided.
